Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has come out to dampen speculation that the French giants are pushing to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.
Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport had claimed PSG were ready to pay Real Madrid €100M for Ronaldo, while handing the 27-year-old a contract worth €18M per year. It was also suggested that initial meetings to discuss the transfer had been held.
But Al-Khelaifi has attempted to cool talk of a bid for Ronaldo, by stressing that he has not spoken with anyone from Real Madrid, while PSG sporting director Leonardo denied a meeting had been held with the player’s agent.
"I have not spoken with anyone from Real Madrid", said Al-Khelaifi.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is a good player, but he is at Real Madrid", he added.
And Leonardo too was at pains to play down the speculation.

"We are not thinking about the transfer market at the moment."
Despite PSG’s denials, it remains to be seen if talk of a move for Ronaldo will die down.
The Portuguese star has been speculated to be unhappy with his current salary at the Bernabeu and PSG are well able to ensure he would earn more if he made the switch to the Parc des Princes.
And the French giants are also one of the only clubs in world football who would be able to afford the large fee Real Madrid would demand for the 27-year-old.
