Arsenal’s young German midfielder Thomas Eisfeld has had his ability praised by head development coach Terry Burton.

Eisfeld scored for Arsenal’s Under-21s in their 2-1 win away at Bolton Wanderers yesterday and the 19-year-old attacking midfielder appears to be making good progress with the Gunners.

The German has had his talents saluted by Burton, who is especially impressed with the intelligence he shows on the pitch.

"He’s a very intelligent footballer and arguably plays better with better players because he is intelligent", said Burton to Arsenal’s official site after the Bolton clash.

"He gets in good positions and, as you saw again tonight, he’s got excellent technique and can finish things off."

Arsenal scored a coup in snapping up the highly rated Eisfeld on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Eisfeld’s career suffered a blow in 2009 when he picked up a cruciate knee ligament injury.

However, he appears well over that now and marked his progress with an appearance against Reading in the League Cup recently.
