Former France international Jean-Michel Larque has hit out at Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas for dismissing Didier Deschamps’ comments about Hugo Lloris’ situation at White Hart Lane.

France coach Deschamps has spoken out about goalkeeper Lloris’ plight, believing that Les Bleus’ number 1 is not getting enough playing time at Spurs, the club he joined over the summer from Lyon.

However, when asked about the former Juventus manager’s comments, Villas-Boas insisted he pays no attention to them at all.

Pointing to his head, the Portuguese said: "It goes in one ear and comes out the other", about Deschamps’ words.

Now Larque, who won seven French titles with Saint-Etienne in a glittering playing career during the 1960s and 1970s, has blasted back at Villas-Boas, defending Deschamps’ right to be concerned about Lloris.

"I have the impression that Villas-Boas has problems with communication", said Larque.

"Deschamps has the right to speak on this subject.

"Who does Villas-Boas think he is?

"Between Deschamps’ business card and Villas-Boas’ business card there is clear gap, like at Longchamp [French horse racing track, ed.]."

Villas-Boas has so far only handed Lloris regular goalkeeping duties in Spurs’ Europa League games, while 41-year-old American shot-stopper Brad Friedel is preferred as first choice for Premier League clashes.

In France, this has been the subject of much debate, with Lloris firmly established as the country’s number 1.
