Joe Cole wants to quit Liverpool to return to Lille in January, according to Canal +.

The 30-year-old English schemer spent last season on loan at the French side, enjoying a successful spell in Ligue 1 with 32 league appearances.

Lille finished third in Ligue 1 last season and Cole was praised for the way he embraced French football and the country’s lifestyle.

Rudi Garcia’s men could not afford to make Cole’s stay a permanent one though, with the player’s salary simply out of reach; Liverpool had subsidised a large portion of Cole’s wages for his time in France.

However, since returning to Liverpool, the former Chelsea star has found the going tough, with only limited minutes on the pitch being sent his way.

Now it would seem that Cole is willing to quit Anfield to head back to Lille, although to do so he will have to take a large pay cut.

Recently Lille boss Garcia went on record as stating he would love the Englishman to return.

It could well be the perfect time for Cole to once again pull on a Lille shirt.

Reaching an agreement to make that a reality however is easier said than done, while Spartak Moscow and West Ham are also interested in the player.
