The dream of Eden Hazard is to play for Real Madrid, according to his international team-mate and friend Christian Benteke.

The pair play together with the Belgium national team and, along with Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, Hazard is the player with whom Benteke gets on the most.

And the striker, who joined Hazard in the Premier League this summer, albeit with a switch to Aston Villa and not Chelsea, as was the case for the attacking midfielder, is not surprised by the impact his friend has made at Stamford Bridge.

"Eden and Marouane are the two players with whom I spend time when with the national team, but I get along with everyone", Benteke told Belgian TV channel RTBF.

"I’m not surprised by his success at Chelsea. He can do even more. He has the qualities to become a better player again", added the striker.

However, Benteke raised the possibility that Hazard could, in two years’ time, be turning out at the Bernabeu rather than Stamford Bridge, as the striker is sure Real Madrid remain his friend’s dream club.

"His dream is Real Madrid", said Benteke.

relatedNewsStory"So why not join the club in a year or two?", he mused.

Benteke did caution against Belgium expecting too much of Hazard though, with much talk in the country over why the forward’s performances for Chelsea and previously for Lille are not translating onto the international scene.

"We expect too much of him and we shouldn’t just focus on him.

"He can make a difference and we can count on him, but we should not expect what he did at Lille."

Benteke is set to come face-to-face with his friend when Aston Villa travel to Chelsea for a Premier League clash on 23rd December. Then, friendship is sure to be left in the tunnel, as both give all in search of the three points.
