France coach Didier Deschamps has blasted back at Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas over Hugo Lloris’ situation at White Hart Lane.

The France number 1 has been relegated to understudy status at the Premier League outfit, with veteran American shot-stopper Brad Friedel preferred between the sticks.

The situation has caused tension between Deschamps and Villas-Boas, with the France coach concerned at the plight of his first choice goalkeeper.

Villas-Boas recently insisted that Deschamps’ words on the subject "go in one ear and out the other" as relations between Spurs and France deteriorated further.

Now Deschamps has hit back, stressing that he does not listen to what the Portuguese says either.

"I also have two ears", said Deschamps.

"What he told me has the same effect."

"We are not talking about a player who does not play", insisted the former Marseille boss.

"Since his excellent performance in Spain, he has still started three times."
