Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has praised his team for securing a win over Levante in difficult conditions in La Liga last night.
On a severely waterlogged pitch, Real Madrid took the lead in the first half through Cristiano Ronaldo, maintaining that advantage into the break.
However, the Portuguese forward was not present for the second period, having been forced off with a bad cut to the eye, the result of being on the end of an elbow from a Levante defender.
The conditions were forcing both teams to play a more long ball style of match and Levante found an equaliser through forward Angel just after the hour mark.
Real Madrid had to dig deep to claim the win, with it only ultimately arriving via substitute Alvaro Morata six minutes from time.
It was a relief for Real Madrid, especially as Xabi Alonso had earlier missed a penalty.
"It was one of those matches against rivals who always make things difficult", said Ramos to his club’s official site.

Ramos also played down scuffles and arguments between both teams’ players that occurred after the final whistle.
"We did our job and went back to the dressing room.
"We don’t want to get into controversies and we will keep our distance."
