Liverpool have agreed in principle to sign Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore next summer, according to Russian daily Izvestia.
Traore notably scored against Liverpool in last week's Europa League clash between the two clubs, producing a sublime piece of skill which baffled the Reds' defence.
Now Liverpool have agreed to monitor Traore's performances until the end of the season, when they will, if impressed, sit down to talk cold hard numbers with Anzhi Makhachkala.
The player's agent has also confirmed developments on his client and a potential move to Anfield, though he did add that more clubs that just Liverpool want the 22-year-old and stressed there is no rush for the goal-getter to move.
"In addition to Liverpool, the list of clubs that have applied to purchase Traore includes Udinese", said Traore's representative Dimitri Seluk.
"But I am afraid the Italians will not be able to pay my transfer value of the player."
Seluk also added that the former Kuban Krasnodar forward is not desperate to leave Anzhi Makhachakala, and so is in no hurry, although he has advocated a move to the Premier League for the player at some point.
relatedNewsStory"At the moment, Lacinia is content with his position at Anzhi. He recently signed a new contract until 2016.
"Traore has no need to hurry. We'll go ahead and first let him get experience.
"I am an advocate of the gradual development of players. Remember the career of Yaya Toure? In 2005, I brought him to Metalurh Donetsk, then he moved to Olympiacos, then to Monaco and from there to Barcelona.
"Now Yaya is at Manchester City.
"Of course, Russia is not Traore's final resting place. The day will come when he will play in the Premier League."
Traore has been linked with Liverpool previously, with the Reds keeping a close eye on his progress when he turned out for Romanian champions CFR Cluj.
The 6"8 tall striker moved to Russia in 2011, signing for Kuban Krasnodar.
He scored 18 goals with the side, which alerted Anzhi Makhachkala, who swooped in to snap him up earlier this summer.
Already the Ivorian has established himself as a potent option for coach Guus Hiddink, dovetailing well with Samuel Eto'o.
He has scored seven goals in eleven Russian Premier League matches so far this season.
