Fiorentina will have to cash in on Stevan Jovetic to bring Mario Gomez to the club, adding a sense of urgency to La Viola’s transfer dealings.

Coach Vincenzo Montella is keen to add Bayern Munich striker Gomez to his ranks for next season and Fiorentina have been negotiating to capture the Germany international.

However, realising the deal will be difficult financially if Jovetic is not sold, a fact of which La Viola are aware, according to Sky Italia.

Indeed, in some quarters moves to capture Gomez are seen as under way to ease the blow of losing Jovetic.

The Montenegrin has been linked with Arsenal, Juventus and, in recent days, Real Madrid.

And he has admitted that the time has come for him to move on to a bigger club, with Fiorentina’s failure to secure Champions League football weighing heavily on his mind.

Now, with other suitors in the race for Gomez, Fiorentina are coming under pressure to resolve Jovetic’s future quickly, or lose the Germany international marksman to a competitor.
