Former Spain international Marcos Senna has drawn the curtain on his 11-year long spell at Villarreal, to pursue his playing career in the United States.

The 36-year-old schemer arrived at the Spanish club in 2002, and clocked up a whopping 363 appearances with the Yellow Submarine.



The Brazil-born Spanish player also played for Brazilian giants Corinthians between 1999 and 2000, and also helped them win the FIFA Club World Cup in 2000 – the year the competition was introduced.

Senna also won two back-to-back UEFA InterToto Cups with Villarreal in 2003 and 2004. He also represented the side in the Champions League semi-finals in 2006.

He appeared 33 times for his side in the Segunda Division – the second tier of Spanish football – in the 2012/13 season, scoring five times.

Villarreal clinched promotion after finishing second in the table, with 77 points.

Senna also started for La Roja in five out of six games in the Euro 2008 campaign – when Spain clinched their second European Championship title.
