Monaco are preparing to make a bid for in-demand Zenit St. Petersburg man Hulk, in their latest attempt to boost their Ligue 1 adventure for next season, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

With the league fixtures released yesterday, Monaco appear keen to add further to their growing list of high-profile names, and Brazilian Hulk is one of those being considered.

The 26-year-old has spent less than a year at Zenit, having moved from FC Porto in September last year, but has been sought after despite missing the 2010 World Cup due to a ban.

A €40m move to Russia came after a protracted transfer period, which saw Chelsea fight hard for his signature.

However, with the Stamford Bridge outfit keeping constant tabs on him, Monaco will attempt to steal the lead, despite the €45m tag.

Monaco will begin their Ligue 1 season in August with an away clash against Bordeaux, with a high-stakes game against Paris Saint-Germain scheduled for late September.

Hulk managed a productive season in Russia, making 30 appearances in all competitions, with 11 goals.

He will be keen to add to his international tally of 22 caps this summer, as Brazil kick off their Confederations Cup campaign tomorrow against Asian powerhouses Japan.
