La Liga side Sevilla have made their first venture into the summer transfer market by signing Steaua Bucharest striker Raul Rusescu.

Rusescu, a centre-forward who plays for the Romanian national team, helped Steaua Bucharest to win the Romania Liga I crown last season by scoring a total 21 goals as well as nine assists in his 34 league appearances for the club.

Such attacking ability prompted Sevilla to dish out their cheque book and release the needed funds to pry the striker away from the Arena Nationala to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Andalusia – the fee, however, remains undisclosed.

Rusescu will play for Los Palanganas for a total five years, as stated in his contract with the Spanish side. The club have also revealed through their official site that the player has a €40m buyout clause.
