Malaga star Eliseu has sent a "come-and-get-me" plea to Benfica, explaining that now Manuel Pellegrini has departed as the Spanish side’s coach he is ready to leave La Liga.

Eliseu came close to signing for Benfica last year, but Pellegrini was keen to keep hold of the winger – and succeeded.

Now though, with Pellegrini’s departure, the 29-year-old is keen to return to his homeland.

"In the past the obstacle to the move was just Pellegrini", he told Antena 1.

"Now Pellegrini is gone we’ll see what happens.

"I want to play for Benfica. Everyone knows I want to play for a great Portuguese club and Benfica is just that.

"Who knows if I can return? I have been away from home for a long time and the sooner I can come back the better."

Pellegrini is set to be succeeded as Malaga coach by ex-Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster.

The Chilean meanwhile is poised for English side Manchester City.
