Serie A giants Inter Milan have announced that Argentine defender Walter Samuel has renewed his contract with the club for one more season.

The 35-year-old’s contract will now run until June 2014.



The former Roma and Real Madrid defender has been with the Black and Blues since 2005, and lifted five consecutive Serie A titles with the club in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Samuel also won a Champions League crown under present Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in 2009/10 – Inter Milan’s treble winning season.

He has clocked up 226 appearances for the Nerazzurri and has scored 15 times.

Samuel’s team-mate, and club veteran Javier Zanetti also penned a one-year extension at the San Siro recently, signifying that the utility player will play beyond 40 years of age at the club – where he arrived in 1995.

Samuel clocked up 22 appearances for Inter in the 2012/13 season, scoring once.
