Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is not worried about achieving success in his second stint as the club’s boss, as the fundamentals are all in place to continue performing high quality work.

The Portuguese tactician guided the Blues to two back-to-back English Premier League titles, as well as an FA Cup crown, during his stint with the club between 2004 and 2007.

The former Porto, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid manager now believes that achieving success this time is nothing to worry about.

“I’m not worried about a definition of success, I’m worried about high quality work in every area I can influence”, Mourinho told his club’s official site.

“That is the basis for success and a good definition of success.”

Mourinho also recalled the appointment of former Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari as the manager of Chelsea in July 2008, and mentioned that his Brazilian counterpart was amazed to witness such a positive work ethic at Stamford Bridge.

“There was one Chelsea manager, Luiz Felipe Scolari, who when he came to Chelsea, he was saying he never saw a club with such organisation in the analysis department, he never saw a group of players with such a working ethic.

“That was a year after me and I was saying to myself and my assistants that he never mentioned my name, but it was a big compliment because it was my working ethic, my department of analysis and preparation.

“It was [match analyst] James Melbourne who came to me when he was a young kid and now he’s the head of that department. That’s my work, that’s success.”

The 50-year-old Portuguese boss stressed the need for improvement at the club in his first press conference at Stamford Bridge after agreeing on a four-year deal with Chelsea.
