PSV Eindhoven have already set their sights on beating last season’s tally of 103 league goals scored, by getting assistance from their former Holland and Manchester United star Ruud van Nistelrooy.

According to Voetbal International, Van Nistelrooy has been putting his vast experience to good use – via a coaching internship – by helping PSV’s strikers find the net further.

PSV’s incredible goals tally, however, was not enough to win the league title as Ajax clinched the honour by a seven-point margin.

Former Real Madrid man Van Nistelrooy is hoping to gain experience by working under PSV’s official forwards trainer Twan Scheepers, in order to boost his coaching expertise.

The Dutchman spent three years playing for PSV before making the move to England in 2001, where he became a worldwide name, helping Manchester United to a league title, an FA Cup and a League Cup.

Van Nistelrooy became a fan favourite during his time at Old Trafford when he powered away to 148 goals in 214 appearances under manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

His goal-poaching skills put him on the mantle of legends at the club, and he was given the chance to play in the exhibition game between Manchester United and Real Madrid earlier this month.

He played a half each for either side and promptly relived the glory days from Manchester with the hosts only goal of the night in the second period.

Van Nistelrooy’s stellar career saw him turn out for Real Madrid for four years, before winding down his career with spells at Malaga and Hamburg.
