National team manager Fabio Capello is in danger of losing respect within Russian football circles if his attempts to break his contract and move to Paris Saint-Germain bear fruit.
According to former Russian Football Union head Vyacheslav Koloskov, Capello would do well to honour the year left on his contract, which will end after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
With Russia poised for a potential automatic qualification berth, Koloskov insists Capello’s early exit would be the worst thing to befall his nation’s sport.
Talks are reportedly ongoing between Capello’s son and the Qatari owners of PSG in Paris today, and a deal is a very real possibility.

However, Koloskov told Izvestia: "It’s hard to evaluate when none of the parties has publicly confirmed talks between Paris Saint-Germain and Fabio Capello.
"Personally, I am convinced that the Italian specialist will fulfil his contract until the end. At the very least, Fabio has repeatedly talked about this.
"At the same time, no one knows what is going on in the soul of Capello and what the situation is within Russian football."
When asked about the impact that PSG’s coup could have on Russia, the man who publicly branded England’s 2018 World Cup hosting bid attempts as "primitive", added: "It would be highly undesirable.
"It will be the worst thing that could come up for the Russian Football Union.
"It is a bad thing when a man in a team throws his current contract out when someone else offers him more lucrative terms.
"It’s not a very good thing for us when we want to have a clean game within the code of honour. If [the deal happens], I will lose respect for Fabio Capello."
