Leeds United boss Brian McDermott has explained that he is really happy to start the new campaign at home and also end it next year at home.
The Football League fixtures were released today, and the Peacocks are pitted against Brighton at Elland Road on 3rd August – the opening day of the new season. They also end the 2013/14 campaign on 3rd May next year, with a clash against Derby County at home.
The 52-year-old has insisted that he looks out for the fixtures more from a player’s perspective, rather than a manager’s.
"I’ve been around the game for such a long time now, I think more as a player than a manager you look at the fixtures", McDermott told his club’s official site.

"For me I look at the first game and see if we are playing at home, and we are. Then I’ll look at the last game to see if we are playing at home and we are which I’m really pleased about.
"I look at the Christmas fixtures and obviously I was looking out for Reading as I managed there.”
The former Reading boss also stated that there is a lot of work to be done prior to the start of the new season, and he is looking forward to making a perfect start with his men.
"Apart from those fixtures that’s it really because we have got so much to do before that first game against Brighton, we need to make sure that we are absolutely spot on."
McDermott also insisted that his side will be focusing on the games one at a time, in the quest to improve upon last season’s performances.
"You look at each game on its merits and plan for each game”, he said.
The Yorkshire giants finished 13th in the Championship last season.
