With their maiden signing for the 2013 summer transfer window done and dusted, defending Premier League champions Manchester United are in the hunt for another by setting their crosshairs on Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan.

The Old Trafford outfit announced the arrival of Penarol right-back Guillermo Varela recently, signing the 20-year-old to a five-year deal.

But new club manager David Moyes has no plans on relenting on his transfer activity, according to Portuguese daily O Jogo, who have the English Premier League heavyweights closing on launching a swoop for Gaitan.

Gaitan has been a Manchester United transfer target since the 2011/12 campaign, having made an admirer of the club’s now-retired manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
