La Liga heavyweights Atletico Madrid have stepped up their chase to find a replacement to Radamel Falcao by setting their sights on Lyon centre-forward Lisandro Lopez.
Lopez, 30, had a commendable 2012/13 season with Lyon, clocking up a total 14 goals in his 39 appearances at the Stade Gerland.
Such skill in the final third of the pitch is something Los Rojiblancos are thought to be deeply interested in. Indeed, according to Le Parisien, Atletico Madrid have already approached Lopez’s representatives to enquire if a deal would be possible.
The news adds Lopez to a growing hitlist from Atletico Madrid as they continue their quest to find a replacement for Falcao, the enigmatic striker they lost to big-money club Monaco last month.

The other names Atletico Madrid are believed to be looking into include Bayern Munich’s out-of-favour striker Mario Gomez, Aston Villa’s pacey forward Christian Benteke, as well as Barcelona’s David Villa, who is also being tracked by London giants Arsenal.
Lopez’s contract with Lyon is set to expire come the end of next season.
