Barcelona defender Andreu Fontas has formally left the Camp Nou to join fellow La liga side Celta de Vigo in a €1m deal, the club’s official site has announced.

Fontas spent the majority of last season on loan at RCD Mallorca, making a total of 13 appearances under Joaquin Caparros’ supervision in all competitions.

With Mallorca no longer opting to extend their loan deal for Fontas, and the 23-year-old defender clearly not in Tito Vilanova’s first team plans as the manager publicly declared, Fontas has made his move to Celta.

Fontas’ deal with Celta will last for three years. Included in the contract is a buy-back option for Barcelona, "in addition to rights on any future transfer on the centre back", the club’s statement said.
