New Napoli coach Rafael Benitez has stressed the importance of Edinson Cavani to the Serie A club as speculation continues to swirl over the Uruguayan’s future.

Cavani has already been the subject of at least two offers from English Premier League side Chelsea, the club Benitez departed this summer to take charge at the San Paolo.

The striker, who scored 29 goals in Serie A last season as Napoli finished second, is also known to be popular with Real Madrid and Manchester City.

And, while Cavani could yet leave, Benitez has hinted strongly he hopes he does not, as he believes the goalscorer is important to the Azzurri.
