Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has backed Gonzalo Higuain to succeed at the club if the Gunners buy him from Real Madrid.
Higuain has been strongly linked with Arsenal in recent days and, having admitted at the end of the season that he is looking for pastures new, is expected to have the final decision over his future made by incoming Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The Argentine has also been linked with Juventus and it remains to be seen where he will end up. But if it is at the Emirates Stadium, Monreal would be pleased.
"I’d love to [have him at Arsenal]", the left-back told Spanish daily Marca.

"He plays some brilliant football and I’ve always loved him scoring at Real Madrid. He would be a reinforcement we could really use."
Higuain slipped firmly behind Karim Benzema in the pecking order at Real Madrid last season and would be likely to enjoy more regular playing time at Arsenal.
The Gunners finished fourth in the Premier League last season.
