Real Madrid have scooped up Isco from Malaga.

According to Spanish daily Marca, Isco will sign a five-year contract at the Bernabeu and become incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti’s first signing of the summer.

Malaga are claiming that the transfer is worth around €30m, €5m less than Isco’s buy-out clause of €35m.

Real Madrid meanwhile cite the initial fee as €24m, with a further €3m in add-ons to follow.

Isco should be presented as a Real Madrid player next week, pending the final formalisation, and Los Blancos are delighted at having captured the midfielder ahead of Manchester City.

However, Real Madrid will also look back at having paid more to capture Isco than would have been necessary a little over a year ago.

Indeed, Malaga offered Real Madrid the chance to sign Isco and Santi Cazorla for a combined fee of €35m, but then-manager Jose Mourinho vetoed the deal. It is likely that if Los Blancos had pushed for just Isco the fee would have been significantly less than the amount they are now paying.

Cazorla on his own subsequently moved to Arsenal for around €18m last summer.
