Latest Liverpool signing Iago Aspas has revealed that the decision to join a “big club” like Liverpool wasn’t tough at all.

The Spanish forward was snapped up formally by the Reds yesterday from Celta Vigo, and he became the third signing for Brendan Rodgers’ side this summer.

The club announced that the 25-year-old has penned a long-term contract at Anfield, and Aspas on his part, has poured praise on his new club.

"It wasn’t a tough decision at all", Aspas told the club’s official site.

"I’m really happy to have come to a big club like this one. Having weighed up all my options for this window, a massive club like Liverpool was always my first choice."

Aspas scored 12 times out of 34 appearances for Celta Vigo in La Liga last season, helping the club avoid relegation from the top tier of Spanish football; Os Celticos finished 17th in the league, avoiding the danger zone by just a whisker.

Aspas started his career with the club in 1995, and was proclaimed the Best Forward in the Segunda Division – second tier of Spanish football – in the 2011/12 season.

Commenting on his key attributes, he said, "I am a quick and skilful player."

He also explained that he is looking forward to talking to his new manager Brendan Rodgers, and has insisted that good players can adapt to any role.

"I’ve not had the chance to talk with the manager at any length just yet but I think that good players can slot into any role and not just one set position”, he added.
