Rangers manager Ally McCoist has explained that talks are under way over the futures of defender duo Dorin Goian and Carlos Bocanegra with the club.
32-year-old Romanian centre-back Goian has been under contract with the Gers since the summer of 2011. He joined the Ibrox giants on a three-year deal from Italian side Palermo.
The former Steaua Bucharest player was sent on a season-long spell to Serie B side Spezia Calcio last summer, where he appeared 26 times in the league and scored twice.
Meanwhile, 32-year-old United States defender Bocanegra also joined the Gers in the summer of 2011 on a three-year deal from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne.

The California-born centre-back had captained his national side in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He was also sent on a season-long loan spell to Spanish second division side Racing Santander last summer, where he clocked up 23 appearances in the league.
Although both players’ contracts with Rangers expire next summer, McCoist revealed that club executives are in talks with the agents of the respective players at the moment.
“I know that [Rangers’ head of football administration] Andrew Dickson and [Rangers COO] Craig Mather are in discussion with the agents of Dorin Goian and Carlos Bocanegra and hopefully we will have news on that in the next few days”, McCoist told his club’s official site.
“I would imagine there would be activity between now and the start of the season in terms of players departing whether on loan or permanently because that is the way of things at any football club”, he added.
Rangers will start their campaign in the Scottish Second Division in the 2013/14 season, after clinching promotion last season.
