Several glittering performances during the 2011/12 season earned Benat a call-up to the Spanish national side managed by Vicente del Bosque.

His first match in a La Roja shirt came on 26th May 2012, when he played 45 minutes in a 2-0 win over Serbia.

He was right in the midst of proceedings during the run-up to Euro 2012 but failed to make a cut in the final squad.
