Eredivisie heavyweights AZ Alkmaar has made clear their position that they will not let go of their rising star Adam Maher for anything less than their asking price.
Maher has been hotly on the viewfinder of another Dutch giant, PSV Eindhoven, who are looking to snap up the 19-year-old playmaker. Indeed, the Phillips Stadion outfit are willing to part ways with an estimated sum of €8m-10m to reel in the highly-rated player.
On paper, such a bid meets AZ’s €7m valuation of Maher, but the bid already includes the fees that will be paid to the player himself, meaning AZ would not actually get the whole sum of their asking price.
Understably, the AFAS Stadion outfit were none to pleased, with the club’s technical director Earnest Stewart telling the Eindhovens Dagblad, "The point is that PSV must pay the asking price. It’s only then that Adam will be sold."

The Maher transfer saga has already seen one of the player’s suitors, defending Eredivisie champions Ajax, pull out of the bidding to snap up the 19-year-old.
And should PSV also withdraw from the race, it would give the likes of San Siro stalwarts AC Milan, La Liga champions Barcelona and Premier League top guns Manchester City some chance of netting their target, with these clubs linked with an interest in Maher in the past.
Maher’s current contract with AZ will see him play to his potential until the end of the 2014/15 campaign.
