Paolo Di Canio, manager of Premier League outfit Sunderland, is believed to be taking advantage of his Italian ties to secure the signing of Inter Milan’s Daniel Bessa.

Di Canio’s new recruitment duo, director of football Roberto De Fanti and chief scout Valentino Angeloni, signed on with the Black Cats earlier in the month following the departure of Pop Robson.

The two have spent time during their stint with Udinese and Inter Milan, adopting a system of finding talented youngsters for low fees then selling the players on for profit once they gain reputation. Products of their system include Sulley Muntari, now at AC Milan, and Alexis Sanchez, now with Barcelona.

And looks like the duo have begun to employ their recruitment tactics with Sunderland, who have made enquiries about Inter’s 20-year-old playmaker Bessa.

According to Sky Italia, De Fanti and Angeloni were spotted in Italy believed to be on a mission to talk with the Nerrazurri about the possible transfer of Bessa. Inter gave their yes, but only to a loan deal.

Bessa made a total three appearances for Vicenza during his brief stay at the Serie B side last season.

Bessa’s contract with Inter will last until 2017.
