Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez is eyeing a move abroad after less than two years with the Russian giants, with Marseille in the driving seat to sign him up, according to Russian daily Izvestia

The Morocco international joined Anzhi in 2011, but has only managed 44 appearances in total for the club.

He is being chased by Marseille as well as Nice and Toulouse, but it is understood the former are closest to signing him following talks between the club and Carcela-Gonzalez's agent.

The agent Roshdi bin Rakhib, however, has also left the door open with his comments today, insisting that his client's position thus far is just one of a player wanting more first team action.

He told Izvestia: "It is important to understand that at the moment my client is an Anzhi player, but nobody knows what will happen in the near future."

Carcela-Gonzalez, who is of mixed parentage, graduated to the Standard Liege senior team in 2008 and made 103 appearances for the Belgian club, scoring 19 goals.

While he initially earned two caps with the Belgian national team, he has since switched his allegiance to Morocco, and has turned out six times for them.
