David Moyes’ first full day as new Manchester United manager has seen the confirmation of his former assistant in Steve Round as his right-hand-man at Old Trafford.

Round had been Moyes’ assistant at Goodison Park since 2008 and will follow him to the Premier League champions, who also see Chris Woods and Jimmy Lumsden join the backroom staff from Everton.

Woods will replace Eric Steele as goalkeeping coach at Manchester United, while Lumsden is expected to take on duties as first team coach.

Rene Meulensteen had been first team coach at Manchester United, but has left the post to join Guus Hiddink at Anzhi Makhachkala in the Russian Premier League.

Moyes said to his club’s official site: "I have worked with Steve, Chris and Jimmy for a number of years and I am delighted they have decided to join me at this great club.

"They bring great qualities in their respective fields and I know that, like me, they feel that this is a challenge to relish. I have great faith that together, we can build upon the success this club has enjoyed over many years."

Former Everton boss Moyes was appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor earlier in the summer, and his arrival saw the departures of former assistant Mike Phelan, and goalkeeping coach Steele.

Moyes’ first task will be to bond with his new squad, and should get the chance when he leads Manchester United on their pre-season tour of Asia.
