English Premier League club Swansea City will continue their association with Dutch midfielder Jonathan de Guzman.

The 25-year-old Canada-born schemer has returned to the Welsh club to ply his skills for another season on a loan spell from Spanish club Villarreal.

De Guzman scored five times for Michael Laudrup’s side, out of 37 appearances, in the English top flight last season – in his first loan spell – as the Swans finished in the top half of the league table.

"Everyone is happy the loan is continuing”, club chairman Huw Jenkins was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"Then Jonathan will review his long-term future next summer."

The former Mallorca and Feyenoord midfielder also scored twice in the final of the League Cup for the Swans against Bradford at Wembley in February.

Laudrup’s side won the game 5-0, and in the process lifted their first major trophy in England.

De Guzman’s present contract with Villarreal runs until June 2016.

Meanwhile, the Swans have already snapped up Spanish defender Jordi Amat and midfielder Jose Canas this summer.

The club are also in the running to secure the signature of highly-rated Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony from Dutch side Vitesse.
