Mario Gomez’s move to Fiorentina could be finalised by this weekend with the Serie A club poised to complete an €18m transfer for the Bayern Munich man, according to Tutto Mercato.
Gomez has been hunting for a club ever since the end of last season, which saw him make 21 Bundesliga appearances, as he has been sidelined by competition from Mario Mandzukic.
He did, however, score a brace as Bayern Munich beat his former club Stuttgart in the DFB Pokal final to complete their treble, but the Germany international looks set for challenges elsewhere.
Fiorentina had reportedly clinched a deal in early June, even as Napoli, Manchester City and Juventus were sniffing around, but his agent had rubbished those suggestions.

Gomez, who moved to Bayern Munich in 2009, has a contract that ties him down at the Allianz Arena until 2016.
And it would seem the 27-year-old is set to break that contract, as Fiorentina are understood to be in advanced negotiations with Gomez over a four-year deal.
The contract could see Gomez earning €4.5m per season, with reports suggesting the transfer could be completed as early as this weekend.
If successful, Gomez will continue his exploits on the European stage – albeit a step lower than he experienced at Bayern Munich – as Fiorentina are set to play in next season’s Europa League.
