Hamburg have confirmed the signing of defender Johan Djourou from Arsenal on an initial season-long loan.
The Bundesliga outfit beat fellow German side Hannover to the signature of the Swiss centre-back, despite Djourou having spent the second half of last season on loan at the AWD-Arena.
Hamburg have agreed an option to buy Djourou on an outright basis at the conclusion of his loan spell.
The 26-year-old joined Arsenal as a youngster in 2002 before signing on as a professional in 2003.
