Leeds United striker Ross McCormack is optimistic about the club’s chances in the upcoming season, and he has explained that manager Brian McDermott is playing a key role in carving out a successful future for the side.

The players have reported back to the Yorkshire giants’ training ground at Thorp Arch for their pre-season preparations, and the Scotland international is delighted in meeting the new faces at the club.

"If you look at the training ground everything is changing and the gaffer is wanting to build the foundations for the next few years", McCormack told his club’s official site.

"He’s wanting to build a football club and not just a team, and I think it’s important the fans get behind what everyone is trying to do here.”

McDermott has explained that he is keen on adding new faces to the club this summer to strengthen the squad. Apart from that, the former Reading boss insisted on upgrading the club’s training ground, in order to make it “absolutely top class.”

The Yorkshire giants have already snapped up English striker Matt Smith and midfielder Luke Murphy this summer. McDermott has revealed that he is looking to add more players, and insisted that he is keen on players who have the hunger and the ambition to excel.

McCormack, a former Rangers player, also believes that the club are taking positive steps to build a brighter future.

"There’s no quick fix, but we’re looking to build and take progressive steps”, he added.
