Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is determined that Los Blancos should sign Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic from Benfica this summer, according to Spanish daily AS.

Matic’s performances at the Estadio da Luz last season have seen a steady stream of suitors impressed with his development and linked with launching a bid to snap him up.

The midfielder’s former club Chelsea have been consistently mooted as suitors and Matic has admitted that if Jose Mourinho calls him he will listen to the Portuguese’s offer.

Interest comes from France too, where Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are keen.

However, Ancelotti is intent on Real Madrid trumping the trio and bringing Matic to the Bernabeu.

The Serbian was part of the deal which took David Luiz from Benfica to Chelsea in January 2011, although the Portuguese giants allowed him to complete his loan with Vitesse before joining up in the summer of that year.
