Saint-Etienne co-owner and CEO Roland Romeyer has confirmed that star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be leaving for Borussia Dortmund, with only a signature needed to seal the deal.
The news comes a day after Aubameyang was reported to have flown to Germany to speak with Dortmund, and will be a blow to several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle.
Dortmund had taken the lead on the negotiating table last week by sending their club representative to speak with Saint-Etienne, and the move appears to have yielded rewards.
Last year’s Champions League finalists are poised to make Aubameyang their replacement for Mario Gotze, who was yesterday unveiled as a Bayern Munich player.

And Aubameyang has his club’s blessing for the same, with Romeyer telling Le Progres: "Negotiations are in the advanced stage with the Germans.
"The discussions have been rigorous but our positions have been reconciled. They are on track but we have not signed the official documents yet.
"Dortmund are an example for us. We are proud that Pierre-Emerick will be joining a club of this quality."
Aubameyang had been courted by Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Swansea City, whilst mainland Europe saw competition come in the form of Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen.
