Chelsea are moving for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, according to Spanish daily AS.

The Blues have been firmly in the hunt for Suarez’s Uruguay team-mate Edinson Cavani this summer, but Paris Saint-Germain have launched a swoop for the Napoli man are are ready to pay €63m to release him from his contract with the Azzurri.

Chelsea are thought to have reacted quickly to the possible loss of Cavani, by switching their attention to Suarez.

A fee of €40m (£34.2m) has been mooted, with Suarez offered a yearly salary of £4.7m to land at Stamford Bridge.

Suarez is keen to quit Anfield and has been vocal in his desire to do just that over the summer.

It was though believed that he wanted to head away from England and a switch to Chelsea would come as something of a surprise.

However, it would also be a statement of intent from Chelsea, reacting to losing out in the chase for Cavani and at the same time plucking one of English football’s world-class performers from domestic rivals.
