New FC Porto boss Paulo Fonseca would give anything to be able to observe his management idol Arsene Wenger at work, believing the Frenchman’s brand of football to be the "best in the world".

Fonseca was appointed to the enviable post of Porto manager this summer, despite his relative inexperience in the role, and is charged with maintaining the club’s incredible run.

Porto lifted their third-straight title last season, and finished the season unbeaten, with Fonseca’s predecessor Vítor Pereira leading the charge then.

And Fonseca is looking to coaches in foreign climes for inspiration this season, with Wenger’s philosophy high on the list, even if the former CS Maritimo player has already seen a few key players depart this summer.

"I do not know about Wenger’s work in depth, but as a spectator, as a lover of good football, I feel that is fantastic", Fonseca was quoted by Portuguese daily O Jogo as saying.

"He employs a style of football that I think is the best in the world, and he does that with fewer resources than the other big teams, for example Barcelona.

"I am a big fan of Wenger’s football. And if I had the opportunity to observe him I would love for that to work out.

"I have an admiration for many coaches, such as Jose Mourinho, Andre Villas-Boas, Wenger, Jurgen Klopp and [Benfica coach] Jorge Jesus.

"There are many coaches that I admire and I have no problems in admitting that I try and learn a lot from them."
