Atletico Madrid have added the name of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud to their shortlist of potential replacements for Radamel Falcao, according to Spanish daily AS.
Falcao was sold to big spending principality outfit Monaco earlier this summer and now Diego Simeone’s men want to make a splash when signing a replacement.
Last season’s Copa del Rey winners have been keen on Sevilla marksman Alvaro Negredo, but Los Rojiblancos’ president Jose Maria del Nido has given them a "zero per cent" chance of signing the player.
Indeed, Manchester City is a more likely destination for Negredo.

Now thought to be on Atletico Madrid’s shortlist in addition to Giroud are, David Villa, Roberto Soldado and Edin Dzeko.
Giroud enjoyed a fruitful first season in England at Arsenal, having joined the club from Montpellier last summer.
However, the seemingly imminent arrival of Gonzalo Higuain at the Emirates Stadium could see his playing time suffer in 2013/14.
