Carlo Ancelotti has blocked the possible departure of Pepe from Real Madrid this summer, according to Spanish daily Marca.
Pepe’s future has been in some doubt, with new Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini having fixed his eyes on the defender as a possible addition.
However, at Ancelotti’s first meeting with the Real Madrid hierarchy, he requested that Pepe remain at the Bernabeu.
Ancelotti wants the Portugal international to fight with Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos for a spot in the centre of defence.
