Swansea City appear ready to hand Vitesse Arnhem the biggest sale of their history, with the Welsh side poised to complete a deal worth up to €16m for Wilfried Bony, according to De Telegraaf.

Bony’s potential move to Swansea has been mooted for quite a while now, but negotiating a fee is proving more difficult than anticipated.

A €12m fee was initially speculated, but it appears that the Dutch side are expecting Swansea to front up €15m, with add-ons taking the price up by another million.

While it will hand Vitesse their record sale value – Nikos Machlas’ move to Ajax for €8.6m being the previous best – Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is confident the terms can be agreed upon by later today.

"As long as there is nothing signed, you cannot speak of an agreement", he told De Telegraaf. "But there’s only a few final details left and we want them resolved by [Monday] lunchtime.

"We have the last few items left to deal with, but that’s no problem. After that he will undergo a medical in Holland and then he can join the team."

Swansea are currently on their pre-season tour of Holland, which saw them pick up a 5-1 win over Dutch third-division side Excelsior Maassluis yesterday.

Bony has been desperate for a move to England, with clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal also in the mix previously, following a season that saw him emerge as the Eredivisie’s leading scorer.
