Former Liverpool and Anderlecht forward Milan Jovanovic has told Serbian SuperLiga giants Red Star Belgrade that he has no interest in returning to his homeland just yet.

Jovanovic, 31, is currently a free agent after his contract with Belgian heavyweights Anderlecht expired after two years of service.



According to Serbian daily Telegraf, he has met with Red Star president and legend Dragan Dzajic, telling the supremo he has no plans to return to his homeland – the Serbian side were believed to be interested in signing the winger.

Jovanovic is also tipped to be considering options from other clubs after his departure from Anderlecht, with Chinese side Shandong Luneng Taishan favourites to acquire his signature.

Jovanovic has played in a total 274 matches throughout his 11-year career, enjoying stints with Shakhtar Donetsk, Lokomotiv Moscow and Standard Liege before moving on to Liverpool and then Anderlecht.

He also has 44 caps for Serbia under his belt, scoring 11 goals along the way.
