Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann has revealed that featuring regularly for his club since last winter was a turning point in his career.
The 22-year-old, who joined the Villains’ academy in 2007 from Rapid Vienna, had not been a regular starter for the Villa Park outfit.
He was even sent on loan to Watford in January 2011.
However, things changed for the Austrian international as he bagged a brace against eventual Premier League winners Manchester United in last November.
Weimann featured heavily for Aston Villa after he grabbed another brace against Norwich City in a League Cup clash in December and finished the season with 12 goals to his name.
And the forward has stated that he is delighted to fulfil his dream of becoming a regular starter for Aston Villa.
He told his club’s official site: “Last season was a turning point for me. At first I was in and out of the team but from December I was involved far more. I’ve felt a big part of the team and that’s been really nice.
“When you come through the academy and see the first team players, you know that’s where you want to be. To be there now is just brilliant.”
Weimann opened his account in this season’s Premier League on Saturday, when he netted the winner in his side’s 3-2 win over Manchester City.
