AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has refused to give into public pressure on his job despite the club's latest falter coming in a goalless draw against Chievo.

Allegri's position is under intense scrutiny with many suggesting he has already been marked for an exit.

The coach himself has admitted he is facing his most difficult time as Milan manager and yesterday's stalemate has further heaped the pressure.

However Allegri said via Gazzetta dello Sport: "Whether this tie is enough to keep my job, I do not know.

"For now, I am the coach of AC Milan. If the company deems it appropriate to appoint a new coach, then they will let me know."

Yesterday's draw also means Milan are winless in their last four Serie A games – including two defeats – but Allegri refused to criticise his players for effort.

"I do not have anything about which to reproach either myself or the players", he said.

"They played well, gave little away, and created a lot of chances, but unfortunately they have not scored. I could not have asked more of them."
