Leeds United manager Brian McDermott has showered praise on his side, with a special tribute to striker Ross McCormack, after they defeated Charlton Athletic 4-2 in a Championship game on Saturday.

McCormack scored all the four goals for the Peacocks at the Valley which helped his side to notch up their seventh league win of the current campaign.

And the manager was hugely impressed with the Scotland international, who struck his first professional hat-trick on Saturday.

McDermott was also pleased with Leeds’ character as the club managed to come away victorious against the Addicks despite surrendering their lead twice.

"Ross got four unbelievable goals", the manager told his club’s official site.

"At 2-2 we could have gone under, but I see these guys character-building day-in day-out, and they really dug in.

"Ross scored an unbelievable volley and the last goal was top, top drawer. You get him into areas where he can score.

"I was proud of him, Michael Brown, Danny Pugh, the lads at the back; Paddy Kenny made two match winning saves in my opinion. Danny Pugh hadn't started a game all season and comes in and does that.”

Leeds are currently in eighth place in the Championship table with 23 points from 15 matches.
