Diego Costa will have to wait a little longer to make his debut for Spain after he was forced to withdraw from Vicente del Bosque's squad through injury.

The striker has suffered a muscle tear, which has ruled him out of involvement in Spain's forthcoming friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa.

Costa has recently been at the centre of an international tug-of-war between the country of his birth, Brazil, and his adopted home, Spain.

Despite playing two friendlies for Brazil, Costa was recently given FIFA clearance to switch to Spain and was all set to make his bow.
