Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has explained that he wants to follow Martin Skrtel's lead in view of forcing his way back into his side’s starting line-up.
The Wales international, who picked up a hamstring injury in the Reds’ League Cup clash against Notts County in August, has made just four appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside club this term.
And the 23-year-old has found it difficult to break into his side’s starting group since returning from his injury layoff.
However, Allen insisted that he is determined to win a place back in Liverpool’s matchday side and stated that he wants to follow Skrtel’s example in doing so.

"Martin is the perfect example for anyone who feels frustrated or impatient when they are not in the side", he told his club’s official site.
"He's done brilliantly and my idea is to do the same. Dealing with not being in the team can be tough, but it's part and parcel of football.
"There will be occasions when you are out of the side. If that's the case, you have to do everything to put yourself forward for selection again.
"The more you get back out on the pitch, the more things will start to flow properly again. I can't wait to get my chance."
Allen, whose contract with Liverpool runs until 2017, joined the club from Swansea City in 2012.
