Leeds manager Brian McDermott is happy with Ross McCormack's Scotland call, declaring "what's right for Ross is right for me".

McCormack was initially left out of the Scotland squad for friendlies against the United States and Norway, but has been brought into the fold as a replacement for Blackburn Rovers hitman Jordan Rhodes.

That means McDermott will be deprived of the opportunity to work with McCormack over the international break. But the Leeds boss has no problem with that.

"I had a phone call on Wednesday night from [Scotland manager] Gordon Strachan and again on Thursday morning, and I really appreciate the fact he rung me", McDermott explained via his club's official site.

"We had a good chat and it was nice to talk to him.

"We talked about Ross and how well he was doing, and how much he wants to play for his country.

"And what’s right for Ross is right for me. He was really looking forward to joining them and playing."

Leeds are benefiting from McCormack's purple patch in front of goal at present, with the striker top scorer in the Championship with eleven goals to his name.

The Scot bagged four against Charlton in a 4-2 win last Saturday.
