Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has told Chelsea that if they are serious about offloading Kevin De Bruyne in January then they must offer more than just a straight loan.

The Bundesliga club are keen to add De Bruyne to their ranks and a lack of first team football is seemingly pushing the Belgium international towards the Stamford Bridge exit door.

The Wolves, along with Atletico Madrid, Werder Bremen, Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen are all attentive to De Bruyne's situation.

But Allofs will not merely offer the attacking midfielder the chance to further hone his skills at the Volkswagen Arena and then head back to Chelsea in the summer.

The former Werder Bremen sporting director told reporters: "A pure loan would be out of the question for us.

"If Chelsea really want to let him go and we are in the mix, then it has to be a loan with a purchase option or a purchase."

De Bruyne spent last season on loan in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen, captivating the German top flight and seeing his stock soar.

One Belgian almost certain to land at Wolfsburg in January is Junior Malanda, the defensive midfielder the club secured in the summer but then instantly loaned back to Zulte Waregem.
